LifeCare earns fourth patient safety award

As if its triple crown back in June wasn't enough, LifeCare Medical Center has received top honors in the fourth and final category of the Minnesota Hospital Association's statewide effort to honor excellence in patient safety.
This fall, LifeCare was named a recipient of the Safe Count Award for successfully implementing a standard counting process that accounts for every dressing and piece of medical equipment used during labor and delivery.
"The main focus of the Safe Count is to prevent sponges from being retained during labor and delivery," says Sue Lisell, Senior Leader of Patient Services at LifeCare.
In June, LifeCare became the first hospital in Minnesota to earn the MHA's three other awards: Safe Skin, Safe Site, and Safe from Falls.
"Everyone at LifeCare should feel a great sense of pride for earning this statewide recognition.  It's especially rewarding to know the steps we take to ensure the health and safety of our patients.  We are honored to receive all four awards from the Minnesota Hospital Association," she says.

Colorful banners of display in the hospital/clinic main lobby showcase the four patient safety awards presented to LifeCare Medical Center in 2008.

A healthy diet may improve your figure, but that's only one reason to eat right. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, avoiding a high-fat diet may reduce the risk of breast cancer, since fat triggers the hormone estrogen which fuels tumor growth. So fill you diet with fruits and veggies and if you're over 40, be sure to have a yearly mammogram. To schedule an appointment call 218-463-4753 and tell us you are ready to think pink.
