Construction of the new LifeCare Greenbush Medical Park continues at a steady rate, with visible changes occurring on almost a daily basis.
Scheduled for completion during the summer of 2010, this $8.2 million complex will provide a much needed healthcare facility to Greenbush and the surrounding area.
“At this point, construction is estimated to be about thirty percent complete,” says Shannon Carlson, Administrator of LifeCare Greenbush Manor. “Our goal is to have the entire building enclosed by the end of November.”
When finished, the medical park will include a 40-bed skilled nursing facility, 12 assisted living apartments, a primary care clinic, and wellness center.
It will also feature the Greenbush offices of LifeCare Home Care, LifeCare Behavioral Health, and LifeCare Rehabilitation Services.
Regularly scheduled updates including construction photos, stories, and other information will be posted online at www.lifecaremedicalcenter.org For more on LifeCare Greenbush Medical Park, call Shannon Carlson at (218) 463-4701.

LifeCare to participate in learning collaborative with regional nursing homes and Stratis Health
LifeCare Medical Center is participating as a member of the Stratis Health 2009-2011 Hospital/Nursing Home Pressure Ulcer Prevention Project with several rural Minnesota hospitals and nursing homes.  The work is led by Stratis Health, Minnesota’s Medicare Quality Improvement Organization, and is supported by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
LifeCare will participate in quality improvement activities and interventions to improve the lives of the people who are admitted to and discharged from its hospital, with a specific focus on prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers.  Hospitals and regional nursing homes will work together to improve communication between the facilities to ensure a safe transition from one setting to the next.
Organizational culture change will be at the heart of this work and best practices will be shared with the Minnesota hospital and nursing home community over the next few years.
“Being part of this group gives us the opportunity to focus even more intently on improving the lives of the people who are cared for in our hospital,” says LifeCare President/CEO Keith Okeson.
“CMS has made transformational quality improvement a priority across the country. It is exciting to be a part of the work that crosses the continuum of care with hospitals and nursing homes in Minnesota,” said Jane Pederson, M.D., Director, Medical Affairs, Stratis Health.
